Transformation during a global pandemic's Kitchen The Process
Some projects the SheBuilds team dives into are a simple refresh or a single component of a kitchen or bathroom. This kitchen however was a dyed in the wool transformation. It doesn’t even look like the same room anymore. We love sharing “Before” images so our customers can what’s possible for their own space.
This kitchen had a small, angled island as well as a ceiling post right in the middle that really bothered the customer.
We took out the post and added a 20-ft beam instead! We raised the lower window on one wall to make room for a full span of cabinets running under the raised window.
We moved the main sink from the island to under the window as well. Now this customer loves to enjoy the view while washing dishes!
This renovation replaced the kitchen seating nook. In exchange we added an island with lots of seating.
You may notice this countertop seems a bit thicker than the average piece. It was cut with a special miter-dropped edge that makes it look thicker. The result is a countertop that is a little taller for preparation. Great when you have tall people at home!
Our customer went back and forth between white and what she considered a gutsy, bright color! Did she want the “safe” choice in white? Or did she want something bolder that lit up her insides with happiness. You can see that gusty and bright won the day!
We extended the kitchen into the breakfast nook area. To complete the look and tie everything together, we also refinished the fireplace with rock facade tile from floor to ceiling.
You can imagine that all this change resulted in a mis-matched floor. So, we refinished all the hardwood as well. Now it all fits together seamlessly.
