What makes SheBuilds different from other kitchen and bath renovators? We’re glad you asked!
There are 3 key reasons:
1: SheBuilds is woman-owned.
Why does that matter? In our experience women make the majority of home improvement decisions when it comes to kitchens and bathrooms. Women often prefer working with women contractors/renovators who are creative problem solvers and have an innovative project management style. Women-owned general contracting shops often excel in nurturing client relationships and playing “team.” Natural multi-taskers, women excel in project coordination from calendering to ordering. These innate assets help ensure smoother operations and better results for our clients.
With some exceptions of course, women predominantly manage the day-to-day needs of their family. As a result, women are in tune with the functional needs for a renovated space. They consider practicality. They want spaces that are not only stylish and beautiful, but functional. They understand the need for storage, products that are durable, easy to clean and stain-resistant. While some products are beautiful, they don’t stack up to the ‘easy to clean’ or ‘stain-resistant’ litmus test. Women builders and designers excel at explaining the options that meet the client’s design aesthetic, their budget, and need for practical and easy maintenance.
Many busy moms and professional women are not looking for one more thing that needs to be dusted, requires expensive products or extra time to clean or maintain, no matter how beautiful it may be. Renovations are intended to make life easier for clients, not to create a really impressive space that falls short of meeting a family’s practical needs.
2: Communication:
Have you ever read or heard of the famous book “Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus” by John Gray? It’s long been known that men and women have different tendencies in communication, as different as the planet Mars is from Venus. In the same solar system, but each their own distinct and unique planet.
Men tend toward the logical and “fix it” approach, while women tend to focus on expressing feelings and building relationships. These differences can be especially trying during a renovation project. The woman client wants to talk “vision” for her kitchen while the male contractor wants to make decisions. He’s frustrated because she’s wasting time. She’s frustrated because of not feeling heard or understood.
Sound familiar? These types of interactions often repeat themselves in our most meaningful relationships, not only when diving into a remodel.
What can be done? It’s pretty obvious really: Hire a woman-owned remodeling firm. Why? Because women know how to communicate with other women. At SheBuilds our owner/founder is a woman, our design team is 100% women. Our Operations Manager and Marketing Director, as well as one of our cabinet installers are women. What this means for clients is that when you have questions or want someone to bounce ideas off of, we’ll understand what you’re trying to say. We “get” you. That “getting” can make or break the communication experience for a client.
Never fear! We have male project managers and craftsmen! They can talk “shop” with the best of them. Their interests range from motorcycles to woodworking to carpentry and metallurgy. We all work together as one big team to ensure the best experience for our clients.
3. An in-house design team.
At SheBuilds the creative team that comes to your home for the initial design consultation, measures, assists with all your selections, creates the 3D renderings and works with you from start to finish to bring your dream to life? They work for us!
Why is this important?
Having this team in-house streamlines design and estimates. We aren’t delayed by another company’s processes, staffing or paperwork backlogs. We are able to set our own pricing which enables us to control design costs. We can guarantee confidentiality. An in-house team enables greater efficiency and quicker turnaround times. There can be consistent communication. Our team invests in understanding each client’s vision and bringing their dreams to life for the long-term.
There are of course more reasons than these to choose SheBuilds. We’re locally-owned and operated right here in Wilsonville, OR. We’ve worked with the same trade partners for years which helps to ensure quality and craftsmanship. We have over 150 completed projects in our portfolio including a client that has engaged us for 5 projects and counting.
